Description Lars-Erik Englund 2013-03-07 07:06:53 UTC
Hello!

LibreOffice-4.0.1.2 will not start under Fedora 18 x86_64 with Gnome 3.6. The problem occurs then trying to launch Writer, Calc or StartCenter from CLI. Then trying to launch LibreOffice it answers no window manager, which means that you can't start LibreOffice from Desktop to. Installation is OK.
LibreOffice-4.0.1.2 works fine on laptop which runs Scientific Linux-6.3.

Thank you!

Lars-Erik

The release is out, this can't stop anything.

@Lars-Erik Englund:
Please use LibO Menu 'Help -> Feedback / Bugreport' or
<https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/>

From what source did you get your build / sources or whatever?
Comment 2 Petr Mladek 2013-03-07 13:03:07 UTC
Lars, could you please try to open terminal and start the application from there? It is the command "libreoffice4.0" or "/opt/libreoffice4.0/program/soffice".

Does it print any error message? Could you please cut&paste it here?
Comment 3 Caolán McNamara 2013-03-07 14:58:13 UTC
"it answers no window manager" probably is "no suitable windowing system found, exiting". Couldn't get the fix into 4.0.1 :-(

Anyway,
yum -y install libpng12
is a workaround

Comment 4 Lars-Erik Englund 2013-03-07 16:03:49 UTC
Hello!

I tried both methods. No one was successful. I even tried to start
libreoffice after installing libpng12. Nothing helped. The only new
report I get is:

/opt/libreoffice4.0/program/soffice: line
153: /opt/libreoffice4.0/program/oosplash: No such file or directory

Thanks

/ Lars-Erik

Comment 5 Caolán McNamara 2013-03-07 16:36:10 UTC
not a duplicate then.

maybe you installed *some* or the rpms and not all of them, i.e. here locally...

rpm -qf /opt/libreoffice4.0/program/oosplash
libobasis4.0-core01-4.0.1.2-2.x86_64
[caolan@Nom ~]$ rpm -qf /opt/libreoffice4.0/program/soffice
libreoffice4.0-4.0.1.2-2.x86_64

so, output of...

rpm -qf /opt/libreoffice4.0

to test that theory,

I can't quite fathom the contradictory facts of

/opt/libreoffice4.0/program/soffice: line
153: /opt/libreoffice4.0/program/oosplash: No such file or directory

and

# rpm -qf /opt/libreoffice4.0/program/oosplash
libobasis4.0-core01-4.0.1.2-2.x86_64

what's the output of...

ls -asl /opt/libreoffice4.0/program/oosplash
Comment 8 Lars-Erik Englund 2013-03-08 14:02:28 UTC
Hello!

I re-installed libreoffice to day, and it works for now.
Libreoffice-3.6.5 is installed to. You asked for a output, here it is:
# ls -asl /opt/libreoffice4.0/program/oosplash
36 -rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 33209 Feb 27
21:30 /opt/libreoffice4.0/program/oosplash

Hope that it will help you.

Thanks!
